The most often asked question authors receive is, "Where do you get the ideas for your stories?"
If you've ever asked a writer this, you probably watched their eyes vibrate just a little bit, as they try to explain . . . there is rarely an explanation.  Some writers are plotters. They like to have a complete outline of their story before they begin. Then there are writers like me. I'm a Seat Of The Pants writer. Just like an artist sits down to paint, they may start to paint a tree, but really have no idea what the entire painting will look like in the end. It's much the same when I write a book. I get an idea for a character, and maybe a vague idea of their story. I might have a beginning . . . a foggy middle . . . and an idea of an ending, but until I sit down and start to write, it's all just as much a surprise to me as it will be to you when you read it. I am often stunned by the things my characters do and say.  Two things that are usually very clear to me though are: The main character's "issue", and their song.   I try hard to write real characters with real struggles. Things that you and I face as we might struggle with areas of our faith.  And so far, for every character I have written, there is a song that sums up their story.  I am always amazed at how perfectly God weaves a song into my character's lives, to help me understand them as they come alive on the page (er...on the computer screen).  So, I thought it would be fun to share with you, the songs that God put on my heart for each of my characters.  Hopefully, if you haven't read any of my books, this will help you identify with someone on this page and want to read their story . . . and if you have read my books, it will give you further insight into the people you've already met on the pages of my books.  Just click on the name of the song to be directed to a video.  Enjoy!
